Robert Douglas “Doug” McCrea Jr., aged 78, completed his journey here and went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 7th, 2020. Doug was born in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Robert and Phyllis (Dykema) McCrea. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Eilean McCrea Essenburg. Doug graduated from Muskegon High School in 1959, upon graduation he enlisted into the United States Navy from which he retired in 1979 as an Aviation Electrician Petty Officer First Class. After his service he became an electrician for several railroads, Grand Trunk/Canadian National in Battle Creek, Michigan and retiring from CSX in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2003. Doug was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Marne United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda (Dagen) McCrea, and his children Robert “Bob” McCrea, Patricia “Tricia” McPheron, his son-in-law, John McPheron, his grandchildren, Cooper (10), Georgia and Camden (8) McCrea, and Finnean (11) and Bennett (9) McPheron. He was a trustee of the church and enjoyed attending many school and sports functions for his children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Fountain View Assisted Living in Coopersville for the loving care they gave him during his stay. Funeral service 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Marne United Methodist Church, 14861 Washington St. Marne, MI 49435 with Pastor Cydney Idsinga officiating. Visitation 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
