Paul Spoelman

December 20, 1935 — September 23, 2021

Paul Kenneth Spoelman, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 85. He was born in Ravenna, MI on December 20, 1935 to the late Henry (Bill) and Jennie Spoelman. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1954 and served in the United States Army for 2 years. Paul married Marlene Luben September 28, 1956 in Coopersville. He graduated from Baker College and started his own accounting and tax service in 1962. He is a member of Church of the Saviour in Coopersville and Faith Fellowship in Irons. He has served on many community boards and at church and was very active in the Coopersville business community as well as Coopersville nonprofits. Paul enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, boating and traveling.

Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene (Luben) Spoelman; children, Daniel (Tina) Spoelman, Joel (Jill) Spoelman and Shelly (Neil) Pletcher; grandchildren, Tim (Jessica) Spoelman, Naomi Spoelman, Samantha (Ryan) Nutt, Jaimie (Noah) Robart, Britney Pletcher, Lukas Pletcher and Mychala Spoelman; great grandchildren, Weston Timothy Spoelman and Jacob Paul Spoelman and two more soon to arrive; brother, David (Coralee) Spoelman; sisters, Ruth Morey, Sarah (John) Olman and Beth (Paul) Borgman; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard DeJonge, Larry Blackmer, Stanley (Pauline) Luben, Lois (Paul) Bliss and Roger (Jeanne) Luben; aunt, Dorothy Koning and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Calvin, brother and sister-in-law James and Jane Spoelman, sisters Mary Ann DeJonge and Esther Blackmer, brother in law Kenneth Morey and nephew Kenny Morey.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, September, 27, 2021 at Church of the Saviour, 180 68th Ave N, Coopersville, MI 49404, with Rev. David Kingma officiating. Burial will take place in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family 2:00 to 5:00 P.M Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Church of the Saviour in Coopersville.
