Grace Posthuma

Grace E. Posthuma, age 98, of Coopersville, went to be with our Lord and Saviour on May 16, 2019. Born April 1, 1921 to John and Tena Bennink. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Calvin Posthuma (1998), her son Calvin J. Posthuma (2012) and her sister LaDeane Sichterman (1999). Grace was a long-standing member of the Coopersville Reformed Church. A proud Alumni of WMU and MSU her career as a teacher began in one room school houses and she taught in the area for 41 years. Grace had a remarkable memory and could remember all of her beloved students, their names and their families. As a teacher and after she retired, Grace worked for Lamont Christian Nursing Home as an aide helping the elderly. Then in her later years she volunteered as a guide at North Ottawa Community Hospital and during the winter months at a hospital in Edinburg, Texas. Grace enjoyed camping with her family and also golfing and bowling with her friends. Grace was a generous, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and lived a long full Christian life. She was an amazing woman to those who knew her. She will be lovingly missed by her sons, John (Brenda) Posthuma and Pete (Debi) Posthuma; daughter, Mary Miars; grandchildren, Jonathan Posthuma, Matthew (Jan) Posthuma, Lorna (Mark) Cisneros, Tina Miars; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and extended families that know her as their Grandma Grace. There will be no visitation and a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
