Floyd Potter

October 12, 1943 — March 10, 2019

Floyd A. Potter, age 75, of Coopersville, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Grand Haven to the late Ralph Sr. and Gert (Perkins) Potter. Floyd retired from Eagle Ottawa Leather in Grand Haven in 2005 after 42 yrs. of service and currently was working with his son Bryan at Floyds Outdoor Power formerly in Coopersville now in Ravenna. He loved to spend time with family and friends especially his grandchildren and great grandsons. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was an avid Detroit Lions football fan and always hosted family and friends at his home for a super bowl party.  Floyd is survived by his wife of 41 yrs., Janice (Hansen) Potter; children, Tim Potter, Alan Potter, Brenda Potter, Pattie Potter-Kolka and Richard Kolka and Bryan (Katherine) Potter. 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; sisters, Francis Lanning, Phyllis (Chuck) Benes and Shirley (Chuck) Frankhouse; brothers-in-law, Tom Hansen and Dennis Hansen; sister-in-law Gloria (Dale) McKee and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Floyd was also preceded in death by his brother Ralph “Eddie” Potter Jr and best friends, Stan Shukis and Steve Deters. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. After the service join the family for a luncheon and time of fellowship at the Coopersville VFW Post 5598 on 68th Ave. Memorial donations may be made to Janice Potter.
