Beverly Hehl

August 12, 1939 — December 29, 2020

Beverly Jane (Davis) Hehl, age 81, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 29, 2020, with her family by her side. Beverly was born August 12, 1939, in Muskegon, MI to Avrell and Betty (DeMull) Davis. Beverly grew up on her family farm in Coopersville. She attended elementary school at North Evergreen and graduated from Coopersville Senior High in 1957.

On Christmas Eve 1957, Beverly was baptized Catholic and became a member of St. Michael’s Church in Coopersville where she remained a member for the rest of her life. She actively participated in many social events and was a member of the Altar Society, and the St. Michael’s Mother’s Club. On January 31, 1959, Beverly married Douglas Hehl. On Labor Day weekend in 1962 Doug and Bev moved to Hehlden Farm in Coopersville where they farmed and raised their five children. Bev and Doug enjoyed traveling to Missouri to see her family, camping weekends with kids and grandkids. Alaska was one of their favorite places to visit. Beverly enjoyed planning and organizing trips to Alaska with family and friends. Bev was creative and adventurous. She had a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to shop with her girls. She enjoyed planning parties, from the kid’s graduations and weddings, to neighborhood gatherings and the snowmobile parties in the tool shed at the farm. In October 2000, Bev and Doug moved from the farmhouse to their new home in the woods of Helden Farm. Bev put much thought into the layout and design of their new home. The family gathered there for many holidays and special occasions. Bev was a dedicated wife, mom, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Bev is preceded in death by her parents Avrell and Betty (DeMull) Davis, father/mother-in-law Martin and Catherine Hehl, great granddaughter Shawna Hehl and brother-in-law Anthony Hehl. Bev is survived by her husband, Douglas of 61 years; children, Carlea (Rich) Creager, Carna (Tom) Brown, Connie (Rick) Darling, Adam (Linda) Hehl and Matthew (Amy) Hehl; grandchildren, Paul, Robert (Melissa) and Joel (Melissa) Creager, Craig (Rachel), Douglas (Gini Sessions), Jacob Brown, Caren (Brett) Meerman, Jason (Tory) Darling, Tara Hehl, Rachel Darling (Brandon Grise), Alexa Hehl, Brent Hehl, Ashley (Wesley) Arends, Christina (Lucas) Wolgamott; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Doug) Kulicamp and Judy (Dan) Ruch; brother, Ron (Sharon) Davis; sisters-in-law, Sister Ann Hehl and Mary Hehl; brother-in-law, Patrick (Carol) Hehl; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 4, 2021, at 11 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coopersville. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday January 4, 10am-11am one hour prior to the funeral mass at church. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Fountain View - Coopersville for the care they gave Bev. Memorial donations in memory of Bev Hehl may be made to the Coopersville Area Community Foundation, 182 East St, Suite 112, Coopersville, MI 49404 and memo the donation for the Coopersville Historical Museum Building Fund.
