Wayne Harold Mejeur

Aug 11, 1951 — Jul 9, 2026

Wayne Harold Mejeur, age 74, of Hesperia, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 9, 2026.

Wayne lived a life rooted in faith and devoted to his family. He was known for his unforgettable dad jokes, warm smile, and steady, godly leadership as a husband and father. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he lived each day, and he found great joy in studying, teaching, and sharing God's Word with others. A faithful member of Rothbury Community Church, Wayne loved serving alongside his church family and encouraging others in their walk with Christ.

Hardworking and determined, Wayne enjoyed owning and operating his own janitorial supply company. Beyond his career, he enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He and his wife, Carole, cherished their time together on road trips, searching for rocks and making lasting memories through their many adventures. While with his grandchildren he always looked forward to fishing (although his grandkids often out-fished him), taking boat rides, and playing games. Whether playing board games or cards with family and friends, Wayne's sense of humor and competitive spirit made every gathering a little more memorable.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alida Mejeur, his in-laws, Ernie and Erma VanWeelde, and his brother-in-law, Tom VanWeelde.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Carole Mejeur; his children, Renee (Jeff) Burget, Ferrel Mejeur, Amarah (Dan) Elliott, and Jared Mejeur; and his grandchildren, Kenzey, Kaylah, Kambryn, Karlye, Hunter, Brinsley, Chase, and Adlianna. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Fred) VanDenBerg; his brothers, Mel (Sue) Mejeur and Dan (Ann) Mejeur; his brothers-in-law, Ron VanWeelde and Doug VanWeelde; his sister-in-law, Beth VanWeelde; and many nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Wayne will remember his faith, his gift for making others laugh, offering encouragement, and pointing people toward Christ. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion to God and family will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at home with his Savior.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Rothbury Community Church, 2500 W. Winston Road, Rothbury, MI 49452.
