Virginia Meyer

Virginia Mae Meyer, age 86, of Coopersville, passed away surrounded by family Tuesday evening April 26, 2016. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI. to the late Virgil and Elsie (Staffen) Dewey. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Willis é�a�A"Billé�a�� Meyer and 3 brothers Bob, Carl and Gordy. She is survived by her children Willis é�a�A"Billé�a�� (Jayne) Meyer, Henry Meyer, Tom Meyer, Gordon Meyer, Cookie Meyer and Steve (Sherri) Meyer; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Nancy) Dewey and Ron Dewey; sisters Nancy (Dave) DeJonge and Julie (Wes) Heintz; sisters-in-law, Eunice Krey and Burnyce Gilde; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Virginia loved to spend time with her family and was happiest having all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathered together. She loved to polka and listen to polka music; she was an active supporter of Coopersville Athletics, was active in the Eastern Star and Coopersville Old Kids Choir. She enjoyed bowling, made the best potato salad and passed on her love of sweets and her sweet tooth to her children. She also helped her late husband Willis who owned Empire Bus line and was active in the Shriners. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 AM at the Coopersville Reformed Church, 423 W. Randall St, Coopersville with Rev Arnold VanBeek officiating. Burial in Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville.
