Vernon Dale Posthumus, age 86, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016. Vern served in the U.S. Navy during Korea, was an active member of the Coopersville American Legion and VFW Post #5598 in Coopersville. Vern was a lifelong resident of Coopersville and retired from Leigh Products. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and at his cabin on Bitley Lake where he enjoyed fishing and cruising on his pontoon boat. Vern is survived by his children, Tom (Lori) Posthumus, Wanda Nelson and Burt Nichols and Roger (Deb) Posthumus; grandsons, Luke Posthumus and Cole Posthumus; granddaughters, Melanie (Roger) Rosema and Jennifer (Bob) Rasmussen; great grandchildren, Everett and Bryce Rosema and Riley Rasmussen; sister Shirley Heyt and several nieces and nephews. Vern was preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Ida (Reimersma) Posthumus, brother and sister-in-law, Norm and Janet Posthumus, brother-in-law Bill Heyt and former wife Helen Posthumus. In keeping with Verné�a�a��s wish cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 pm Thursday Dec 1, 2016 at the Coopersville V.F.W. Post # 5598, 511 68th Ave, Coopersville, MI 49404. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday from 4 to 6 pm at the V.F.W. Post. Memorial donations may be made to V.F.W. Post #5598. An online guestbook may be signed at
