Sue Kinnucan

November 30, 1934 — January 25, 2022

Sue Kinnucan, 87, Engadine, MI, formerly of Coopersville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on January 25, 2022. Sue was born on November 30, 1934 in Chinen, Okinawa, Japan to Seitei and Kame(Izu) Oshiro, middle of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Seigi, Seiki, Seisei, Seie, Seitetsu, Seiko, and sister Misako Unten, and daughter, Julia Leno. Sue is survived by daughter, Kame(Dale) Moore of Engadine, Mi, son-in-law Gregg Leno of Kentwood, grandchildren Daniel Moore, Heather(Morris) Nettleton, Tracy Leno, Stephanie (Tyler) Lewis, Frida Leno and Emily Leno, great grandsons, Eli Woods, Seth and Caleb Nettleton, sister Kiyoko Kinzyo, brother-in-law Senboku Unten, sisters-in-law Tomiko Oshiro and Kazuko Oshiro. Sue was Captain of her high school volleyball team, a great ping pong player and a hard worker. She raised her daughters while working at Modular Systems, Inc, Fruitport, Mi, making phone booths. Sue was an Amway distributor for almost 50 years.

Sue and her many friends started the MI Okinawa Kenjinkai, with Sue being its first president for three years. She went to Okinawa for Uchinenchu festivities several times, celebrating her Okinawa heritage with returnees from around the world, walking in parades and enjoying time with her family and friends. Sue enjoyed knitting warm slippers, making fried rice and tempura to share, and helping others. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church, Coopersville, MI. The family would like to thank North Woods Home Care and Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Sue. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1PM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Throop Funeral Home, Coopersville, MI. The funeral will begin at 2PM. Interment will be at the Coopersville-Polkton Township Cemetery, Coopersville, MI. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Okinawa Kenjinkai or Calvary Bible Church of the Eastern Upper Peninsula, P.O. Box 123, Engadine, MI 49827.
