Shirley Jean (Garbutt) Roberts

Shirley Jean (Garbutt) Roberts, of Coopersville, Michigan, was born at home in Dearborn, Michigan on May 11, 1934 and went home to be with her Lord October 16, 2026, at the age of 92. Shirley was formerly of Oscoda and Livonia, Michigan. Although her passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of her family and friends, they can find comfort in knowing that her faith rested in Jesus Christ and in the promise of eternal life.

Shirley was blessed with a beautiful family and is survived by her five children; Douglas (Deb) Roberts, Randall (Elizabeth) Roberts, Susan (Mark) Lindman, Raymond (Dawn) Roberts, Nancy (Randall) VanNispen. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Joyce (Pete) Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gerald Dean Roberts; parents, Wilfred and Mildred (McGarvey) Garbutt and brother, Bill Garbutt. Family was an important part of her life, and her love will continue to live on through the many generations she leaves behind.

A celebration of life will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Merriman Road Baptist Church, 2055 Merriman Rd, Garden City, MI 48135. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 11:00 to 11:30 A.M. before the service.

Though Shirley will be deeply missed, those who love her can find comfort in the promises of God and hope of eternal life though Jesus Christ. Her faith and devotion to her Lord leave a lasting legacy for her family and future generations.
