Roy Lynn Harvey, age 76, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord, Roy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him.
Roy was born on May 21, 1949, in Antrim County, Michigan, to Tracey L. Harvey and Alice Harvey (La Peer). He grew up in Hamilton, Michigan, where he attended school before proudly serving his country. In July of 1967, Roy enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Harold J. Ellison in Norfolk, Virginia, until his honorable discharge in April of 1971.
After returning home to Michigan, Roy began working at Northern Fiber. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Ruth. They were married on August 31, 1974, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Roy became a loving stepfather to Chris and Jodi, and together he and Ruth welcomed three daughters - Jennifer, Talina, and Talisha - completing their family.
Roy was a hardworking and humble man who later spent many years working in waste management, retiring in 2015. He and Ruth also opened their home to foster children over the years, offering not just a place to stay, but a place to belong.
Roy’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. As a devoted follower of Christ, he faithfully shared the gospel with those around him and served as a deacon at Christian Fellowship Assembly. Whether helping with Wednesday night meals or the sermons, Roy lived out his faith through both word and action.
To know Roy was to know laughter. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing lightness to any moment - whether through a well-timed joke, a playful tease, or simply that unmistakable smile that let you know he was about to say something that would make you laugh. He didn’t just love deeply - he made sure you felt it, often in ways that left you smiling long after.
Roy found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved tending to his garden, spending quiet time in the Bible and prayer, and taking road trips with Ruth. He cherished family gatherings and rarely missed an opportunity to attend the sporting events and activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always one of their biggest supporters and proudest fans.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 51 yrs., Ruth; his 7 children; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members, including several half and step siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roy will be remembered for his big heart, his strong faith, his steady presence, and the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the countless lives he touched with kindness, humor, and grace.
