Richard Duane Poffinbarger Sr.

January 22, 1941 — August 3, 2024

Richard Duane Poffinbarger Sr., age 83, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 with family at his side and was reunited with the love of his life Carol Ann (Beuschel) Poffinbarger. 

 Rich was born in Muskegon, MI to the late James Poffinbarger Sr and Shirley (Bayne) Poffinbarger. Rich was a guy you could count on whenever you needed some help. He was a graduate of Ravenna High School Class of 1959 was a member of St Francis Xavier Church and Life Member of the Knights of Columbus St Vincent DePaul Council 4404. Rich served in the U.S. Army, was retired from U.P.S. where he worked as an over the road truck driver for 30 yrs., was instrumental in helping start the Ravenna Recreation Sports League and Rocket Football programs, served on the Ravenna Fire Dept. for 30 yrs., worked for P.B. Action Services as an Auctioneer for 30 yrs., was active in the Ravenna American Legion Sherman Moore Post #297, was a Life member of the Evart VFW Post #7979 and member of the Thomas E. Smith Amvets Post II in Evart. 

 Rich loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be deeply missed by his children, Annette, John and Angela, Richard Jr. and Tom, Clark and Gail, Kevin and Jill; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Marlene and Frank Pano; sisters-in-law, Joyce Poffinbarger, Virginia Meyers, Arlene and Les Thayer, Brenda Spangenberg and MaryJo Demeester; brother-in-law, Dennis Beuschel; aunt Gladys Bayne, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

 In addition to being preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann on May 9, 2023 and his parents James and Shirley, Rich was also preceded in death by his brother James Poffinbarger. 

 Visitation will be held 4-7:30 P.M. Thursday at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville and Friday one hour prior to the Mass at St Francis Xavier Church in Conklin. Rosary will be prayed Thursday 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. 

 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 9, 2024 at St Francis Xavier Church, 2044 Gooding St, Conklin, with Fr. Andrew Ayers, Celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the Ravenna American Legion Post #297 following the Funeral Mass.

 Interment will take place in St Francis Xavier Cemetery in Conklin after cremation has taken place.
