Randy Thomas Mergener

Randy Thomas Mergener, of Ravenna, born on October 29, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Fremont, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Eileen Mergener, and his sisters, Cynthia Mergener and Dolores "Dodi" Mergener. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Mosley; his grandchildren, Austin, Anna, and Dezarae; his great-grandchildren, Brandyn, Kaidyn, and Raelynn; his brother, Michael Mergener, and his wife Brenda; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was a graduate of Fruitport High School, Class of 1979 and worked as a Tech. at MillerKnoll in Spring Lake. Randy took pride in doing things well, and he brought that same dependable attitude to his work that he brought to the rest of his life. He was the kind of man who knew how to get things done, and if something needed fixing, he likely had a plan before anyone else even finished explaining the problem. That practical skill was matched by a warm personality that made him a valued coworker and friend.

Randy was also a true die-hard Honda motorcycle enthusiast, and he especially enjoyed riding his Honda Shadow and his quad. If there was an open road, a trail, or a stretch of country worth seeing, Randy was ready to go. He loved deer hunting, spending time outdoors on his property, and being outside in the fresh air where life felt simple and good. He appreciated the kind of peace that comes from a quiet morning, a good ride, or time spent with family and friends. Though he has taken his final ride, the road he traveled with others will be remembered for a long time to come.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St., Coopersville followed by a Funeral Service celebrating Randy’s life at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Steve VanderWoude officiating. Burial will take place in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery.
