Patricia Mead

Patricia J. Mead, age 81, passed away Sunday Feb 23, 2014. Pat was born in Marne MI to James and Catherine (Lillie) Gavin who preceded her in death. She attended and graduated Coopersville High School in 1950. Pat had a big heart and accepted everyone with love, compassion and understanding. She was a member of the Coopersville VFW Post 5598 Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed baking pies and cakes for Godé�a�a��s Kitchen and for the past several years played Mrs Claus at the Coopersville VFW Post annual Christmas lunch with Santa program. Pat also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bowling, golfing, playing euchre and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by her children, Gerald E. (Kathy) Mead, Debra Stanton, Janet Hoogewind, Michael (Mary) Mead, Steven Mead, Timothy Mead and Mary Jo (Keith) VanderLaan; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother Daniel (Emma) Gavin; 5 nieces and nephews and many friends. Pat was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Dave Stanton and nephew James Gavin. In keeping with Paté�a�a��s wish cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 12:00 noon at St Maryé�a�a��s Catholic Church in Marne with Fr. Dave Gross celebrant. Interment will be in St Maryé�a�a��s Cemetery in Marne. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville and on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral mass at church. The family wishes to extend a thank you to Spectrum Health Hospice staff for the care given to their mother and the support to the family.
