Patricia Ann Brown Hall, age 88, of Coopersville, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020. Pat was known for her kindness and generosity. She was an avid reader, loved all things cat, and often said that her favorite three words (after “I love you”) were “Let’s eat out.” She was born June 28, 1931, to the late Sheridan and Ruth Brown of Warren, Pennsylvania. Always concerned with the well-being of others and wicked smart, Pat moved from Warren to Cleveland, Ohio, to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She made her home in Cleveland while working at University Hospitals, eventually becoming head of the LPNs and in charge of training new nurses. Pat enjoyed downhill skiing. In her 20s and 30s, she skied regularly in places including Vail, Colorado; Stowe, Vermont; Tremblant, Quebec, Canada; Val-d'Isère in the French Alps; and several locations in Switzerland. She also sang professionally during this time in the choir with the Cleveland Orchestra under the renowned conductor George Szell. In 1968 Pat married Jerry Hall and in 1971 moved to Michigan where she became very active with the Friends of the Coopersville Library, in the school PTA, and in her church teaching Sunday school and joining the Daughters of the King. She and her husband loved to travel, and they visited the United Kingdom several times. Pat is remembered with so much love by her husband of 51 years Jerry; children Donna-Lee Mattison and Carolyn Hall; grandchildren Ashten Stanford and Blair Hall; in-laws Thom and Betty Hall; nephew and spouse Carl and Liz Hall. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church 1025 3 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505 with Rev. Molly Bosscher officiating. Visitation is Thursday 5-8 PM at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville. Memorial donations may be made to the Coopersville Area District Library 333 Ottawa St, Coopersville, MI 49404.
