Norma Helen Gillespie, age 93, passed away unexpectedly at her home Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Norma was born in Sparta, MI to the late George and Kathryn (Thompson) Mitchell. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Gillespie and son, Dan Gillespie. Norma enjoyed gardening, playing cards, crafting and making jewelry. She was an avid collector of Precious Moments and enjoyed taking trips to the Casino. She bowled for 50 years well into her 80’s and competed in the women’s National and men’s National leagues. Norma and Frank Coletta were the first bowlers to roll bowling balls at the Ravenna Bowling Alley. She also baked wedding cakes for many family and friends. Norma is survived by her children, Diane (Ronald) Cuson and Gary (Sherril) Gillespie; daughter-in-law, Alice Pigors; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Leona (John) Spencer; sisters-in-law, Helen Mitchell and Mary (Merle) Bonter; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions church seating is limited to 50 people and masks and social distancing practices are required. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Conklin Reformed Church with Rev Sandra Nikkle officiating. Interment will take place in McNitt Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial donations in Norma’s honor be made to her beloved Church, Conklin Reformed Church, 3769 Sehler St, Conklin, MI 49403.
