Mildred Timmerman

d. February 7, 2014

Millie Timmerman, aged 89, died Friday, February 7, 2014 in Coopersville. She was born on a farm near Aloha, MI., as the 10th of 12 children. Millie traveled to Nunica to work for the Timmerman family and married their youngest son Harold in 1943 and had a happy, full life. She gave her heart to all her babies, no matter whether they were her own 7 children, her 46 foster babies, or the Spencer or Mergener children. Millie baked the best bread, but was modest and said that her motheréaas bread was even better. Her garden, flowers and good meals kept her busy. She loved her books and magazines, not TV and going to a good auction sale. We will miss her sense of humor and her strong opinions. She valued truthfulness, a good work ethic, conservation of the earth and not wasting water. Millie and her sister Irene traded poems oven the years and this one she liked: éaA"THE GRINDSTONEéa If you keep your nose to the grindstone rough, And hold it down there long enough, In time youéaall say thereéaas no such thing, As brooks that babble or birds that sing. These three things will your world compose, Just you, the stone and your bloody nose! Millie lost her love Harold in 2012, after nearly 69 years of marriage. Surviving are her 7 children, Richard and Marsha Timmerman of Emmaus PA, Irene and James Coffee of Jenison, Claudia and Alfred Throop of Lake Odessa, Virginia and Merle McCain of Battle Creek, David Timmerman of Nunica, Craig and Cindy Timmerman of Nunica and Jill Sutton of Cincinnati OH; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Irene Hathaway of Cheboygan and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks and appreciates the dedicated staff at Fountain View in Coopersville for their care of Millie. Cremation has occurred according to her wishes. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at St Matthew Lutheran Church, 15395 Rannes St, Spring Lake, MI.
