Marla Hecksel

Marla A. Hecksel, age 75, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 7, 2019. Marla was born in Muskegon on May 11, 1943. She was a graduate of Coopersville High School, worked for Blue Cross for 27 years and was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, photography, and relaxing at the cottage. She loved books and had an astounding cookbook collection. Marla and Bill’s lives were forever changed when they were introduced to each other by Lillian Englert in December 1996, and they had their first date on Christmas Eve. Marla will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 18 years William “Bill” Hecksel; children, Todd (Valarie) Hecksel, Kami Hecksel (Lee DeWitt), Karla (Ron) Langeland, Bill (Laura) Hecksel and Gregg (Tracy) Hecksel; grandchildren, Zach Hecksel, Bryanna (Jeff) Stepanovich, Zeke (Sara) Hecksel, Jocelyn (Nathan) Leo, Sophia (Zack) Kulicamp, Levi Hecksel, Kate Hecksel, Macinze Knuth and Saige Hecksel; great grandchildren, Boyd and Duke Stepanovich; special niece, Michelle (Mike) Fields; cousins, Diane (Curt) Fields, Tom (Gail) Kurdziel, JoAnn VanKampen and Matt Lamadline; her loyal cat CC; and many caring friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Gertrude Radakovitz, aunts Louise Kurdziel and Helen Hall, cousin Steve Lamadline, and son-in-law Rick Martin. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, Jan. 12 at St Luke Lutheran Church, 11261 South St, Nunica, MI 49448. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may greet the family 9:30 to 11 am Saturday at the church prior to the service.
