Lona Joyce Richter

Aug 31, 1945 — Jul 20, 2026

Lona Joyce (Grossenbacher) Richter, age 80, of Coopersville, Michigan, passed away on July 20, 2026. She was born on August 31, 1945, and lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family and church.

Lona was a loving and faith-filled woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ava (Snyder) Grossenbacher; husband, Philip Richter; her daughters, Barbara and Karen Scharphorn; her son, Bobby Scharphorn; her stepson, Dale Richter; and her brothers and sister, Gay Grossenbacher, Glen Grossenbacher, and Lelah (Grossenbacher) Bouchard. Though she experienced many losses in her lifetime, she remained steadfast in her faith and continued to be a source of strength and encouragement to her loved ones.

She is survived by her children, Lucy (Mark) Eisen, Ronald Scharphorn; step son, Alan (Deana) Richter; her grandchildren, Alexander (Kathryn) Eisen, Tiffani (Hunter) Myrick, Konnor Scharphorn, and Kollin Scharphorn; her great-grandchildren, Everlee Eisen and Hayden Myrick; her siblings, Gloria Lillibridge, Lucy Mulder, and Dennis (Pat) Grossenbacher; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Her family was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to share in their lives, celebrate their milestones, and offer her steady love and support.

Lona was a devoted member of Little Farms Chapel for more than 50 years, where she was very active in the church community. Her faith was central to who she was, and she lived it out through her kindness, service, and commitment to others. She especially loved singing in the choir at church and also enjoyed being part of the Old Kids choir in Coopersville. Her voice and spirit added joy to the lives of those who worshiped and sang alongside her.

In addition to her church involvement, Lona found happiness in simple and meaningful pursuits. She enjoyed knitting and sewing doll and baby clothes, creating cherished items with care and love, baking and decorating cakes including wedding cakes and also loved gardening and flowers, spending time tending to the beauty around her and finding peace in the work of her hands. These interests reflected her gentle nature and her appreciation for the small blessings of everyday life.

Lona will be remembered for her loving heart, her deep faith, and the many ways she touched the lives of others. Her family and friends will hold close the memories of her kindness, her devotion, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
