Leonard Schwallier

Leonard H. Schwallier, age 97, of Conklin, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at home with family at his side. He was born in Wright Twp., MI. to the late Henry and Viola (Kramer) Schwallier. Leonard was married to his lifetime partner Dorothy Mae Larabel - who preceded him in death - for 74 years. Leonard was a lifelong farmer who after retiring from the fruit and dairy business was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a truck driver which he did successfully for the next 25 years. During Leonard's lifetime he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as township supervisor and also served on the Soil Conservation Board. Leonard lived by a strong moral code, doing what was right with honor and integrity. Leonard is survived by his children, Richard Schwallier, Jim (Joyce) Schwallier, Jerry (Barbara) Schwallier, Tom (Jean) Schwallier, Patricia (Dick) Kenney, Steve (Cheryl) Schwallier, Dan (Deborah) Schwallier and Bill (Theresa) Schwallier; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Fred (Donna) Schwallier and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Marne, with Fr. Ayub Nasar Celebrant. Interment will be in St Mary's Cemetery in Marne. Relatives and friends may meet the family at 11:00 AM one hour prior to the service at St Mary's Church.
