LD Taylor passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, with his beloved wife Janice by his side. Born on January 15, 1937, LD lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
LD was a 1955 graduate of Coopersville High School. He served two years in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, known as the "Screaming Eagles," stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He retired from AT&T (formerly, Michigan Bell Telephone Company), where he worked as a linesman. After early retirement from AT&T, he continued his career as a heavy equipment operator for multiple excavation companies. LD and Janice were married October 5, 1963, and have been married for 61 years, sharing a lifetime of love and companionship. LD was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. Throughout his life, LD touched the hearts of many with his willingness to help others, warm smile, and gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
LD loved the outdoors and spent most of his free time enjoying motorcycling, flying his powered parachute, hunting, fishing, and working in the yard. He was known by all as a handyman who could fix anything. LD also took great pride in obtaining his private pilot’s license, maintaining his vehicles and creating beautiful park-like yards at all of their homes.
LD is preceded in death by his parents Glenn E. Taylor and Ruth M. Taylor of Coopersville, MI, and sisters Arlene and Beverly. He is survived by his wife Janice, his son Jeff (wife Kelly) and their children MaRynn and Zach, his daughter DeAnn (husband Scott) and their children Brooke and Erika, as well as numerous friends and relatives. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A life celebration memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404. Burial will take place in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left on LD’s guestbook at www.throopfh.com.
