Katherine Mae Verspoor

Katherine Mae Verspoor, age 74, of Coopersville, passed away Saturday, August 22nd, 2026. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Edwin and Ruth (Healy) Verspoor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Margaret Verspoor and Janice Lampert.

Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends. She never missed a family gathering. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She took great pleasure in attending their horse shows, wrestling matches, football games, school functions and was always up for taking them to get ice cream. When she was not with her grandkids, you could find Kathy knitting, crafting, going to dinner with the girls, and enjoying Taco Tuesdays. Kathy had a heart of gold,living a selfless life of putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Kathy had a special bond with animals, especially dogs. Her grand-dog Lola will miss her van pulling in the driveway to deliver love and treats.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Nathan(Lisa) Mencarelli; grandchildren, Isabelle, Charlee, and Sawyer Mencarelli; sister, Mary Lou(Pat) Holmes; brother, Jim Verspoor; longtime friend Betty Miller, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Depot residents.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 18784 8th Ave, Conklin, MI 49403. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 28, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 18784 8th Ave, Conklin, MI 49403, with Fr. Nick Baker celebrant.
