Joy Elaine (Lillie) Bos

Joy Elaine Bos, age 78, of Allendale, formerly of Coopersville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She was born on December 22, 1947, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and friendship. Joy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit touched the lives of many.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Joy (Mergener) Lillie, and her brother, David Lillie. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Bos; her children, Michael Bos, Jamie (Carrie) Bos, Jared Bos, Melanie Bos and Michael Schneider; and her cherished grandchildren, Kylie (Hunter) Simon, Jordan Bos, Melissa Bos, and Brinley Schneider. She is also survived by her brothers, Russell (Sheryl) Lillie, Mark (Sue) Lillie, Dennis (Kate) Lillie; her sisters, Lynne (Steve) Bennink, Barb (Gordon) Umlor, Mary (David) Ciceroni, Carol (Rich) Dausman, and Margaret (Chuck) Kirkham; her brother-in-law, Wayne (Judy) Bos; her sister-in-law, Beverly (Roger) Ezinga; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy spent many years serving her community as a substitute teacher at Allendale Public School and as the children's librarian at Allendale Township Library. She was appreciated for her steady presence, her patience, and the care she showed to the students and staff she encountered. Her work reflected the same thoughtful and dependable nature that guided her throughout her life. She made a quiet but meaningful difference in the lives of others, and her influence will be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Above all, Joy treasured time with her family and friends. She especially loved being with her grandchildren, and those moments brought her great joy and pride. Her family was the center of her world, and she found happiness in the simple and meaningful times they shared together. Whether gathered for celebrations, everyday visits, or special milestones, Joy’s warmth and love were always present.

In her personal time, Joy enjoyed caring for her dogs, reading, and listening to music. These interests brought her comfort and enjoyment, and they reflected her gentle and nurturing personality. She found peace in the companionship of her pets and pleasure in the quiet moments spent with a good book or a favorite song. Her life was enriched by the things she loved, and she embraced them with gratitude and grace.

Those who knew Joy will remember her as loving, kind, and friendly. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence brought comfort to those around her. Her smile, her compassion, and her sincere interest in others left a lasting impression. She lived with a generous heart and a spirit that made her easy to love.

A scripture service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at St. Mark the Evangelist Parish St. Michaels Campus, 17150 88th Ave, Coopersville, MI 49404, with Fr. Mike Hodges Celebrant.
