John Breen

March 12, 1926 — October 31, 2017

John Breen, age 91, of Jenison, was called home to his Saviour Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017. John was a man of deep faith; he was active for many years with the Gideons Grand Valley Camp in Allendale and also an active member at Berlin Baptist Church. He farmed most of his life and was an avid dealer of Amsoil. John was born in Coopersville, to the late John T. and Nettie (Posthuma) Breen. He was preceded in death by his wives Edith (Bush) Breen and Mary (Norton) Breen, infant daughter Mary, son Thomas, brothers Melvin and Jerry,brothers-in-law Frank Hall and Joe Fleming and sister-in-law Elaine Breen. John is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Karl) Hanes, Rosalie (Richard) Stroven, Dianne (Jeff) Carlson, Nancy (Dan) Murray, Ruth Ann (Dennis) Norman; daughter-in-law, Cindy Breen; stepchildren, Wayne (Rachael) Crowe and Lester (Sandi) Gardisky; 27 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild; sisters Jeanette Hall and Gerarda Fleming; sister-in-law, Marilyn Breen; special friend, Phyllis Klinge; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11:00 A.M. at Berlin Baptist Church south campus 14141 State St, Marne, 49435 with Rev Jeff Gunderman officiating. Burial in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Visitation Monday 5 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, 49404 and Tuesday at Church in Marne one hour prior to the service. The family request memorial donations to Gideons International or Berlin Baptist Church. An online guestbook may be signed at
