James L. Terpstra, age 81, of Marne, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
He was born on May 20, 1938, in Marne, Michigan to George and Jennie (Van Houten) Terpstra. He graduated from Coopersville High School and served in the United States Navy. He married Joan Koppenol in 1959.
He was a Machinist by trade, mechanic by nature and loved them both.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Jon and Donna Terpstra, Joy and Miles Kuperus; grandchildren, Evan and Kim Terpstra, Chris and Emily Farmer, Ian Terpstra, Eli Terpstra, Irene Kuperus, and 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Marge TenBrink and Rose Emelander; sister-in-law, Betty and Harley Broene; brother-in-law, Roger and Charlene Koppenol.
He was preceded in death by his son Danny, parents, and brother Kenneth Terpstra and sister Joanne TenBrink.
Funeral Services will be held 5:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at Lamont Community Church, 14000 48th Ave, Coopersville, MI., with Rev. Rick LeFebre officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery at Lamont. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday, Feb. 15th and 2-4 pm Sunday, Feb. 16th at the Throop Funeral Home 214 Church St, Coopersville, MI.
Memorials can be made to Terpstras in Africa, the Luke Society or Lamont Community Church Building Fund.
