Harold is survived by Mildred, his wife of 68 years, and their 3 sons and 4 daughters, Richard & Marsha Timmerman of Emmaus, PA, David & Stephanie Timmerman of Nunica, Craig & Cynthia Timmerman of Nunica, Irene & James Coffee of Jenison, Claudia & Alfred Throop of Lake Odessa, Virginia & Merle McCain of Battle Creek, and Jill Sutton of Cincinnati, OH, and their 15 grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Cullen, David, Wendy, Craig, Matthew, Sarah, Chayil, Ari, Patrick, April, Anna, Ellen & Ben, and 15 great-grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Rebecca, Ethan, Caeden, Nolan, Ansley, Olivia, Clare, Owen, Brandon, Aaron, Jordan, Madison, & Blake, and one sister-in-law, Irene Hathaway of Cheboygan, and many nephews and nieces. Harold also enjoyed the 46 foster babies and the Mergener and Spencer children who shared in his life. Harold was a kind man who loved his family, his work, his faith, and the land he farmed. Following his retirement from Cooper Industries, he restored antique clocks and furniture as well as farming, gardening, and raising gladiolus for sale. He was an artisan and craftsman, a mechanic possessed of rare skill, and an intellect keen up until the last several months. He was an avid reader, a born teacher, and a hard worker who generously shared his knowledge. Harold never said éaA"Good enough!éa His unique, inquisitive mind made him appreciate the satisfaction inherent in making things better. His true love Millie kept him supplied with fresh bread and humor, and he lived a good, long life, and was proud of his large family. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 15395 Rannes Street, Spring Lake, MI, Rev. Michael Goers presiding. Cremation has occurred. The family thanks Fountain View of Coopersville for making Harold comfortable in his last days, and for their continued care of Millie. Throop Funeral Home, Coopersville Ph 616-837-8161
