Gloria Martin, age 74, of Holland, Michigan, formerly of Coopersville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a life marked by love, kindness, and steadfast faith on July 8, 2026.
Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit touched the lives of many. She was a long-time member of Ottawa Center Chapel, where her faith remained an important part of her life and where she found fellowship, encouragement, and purpose. Gloria was known for her loving heart, her kind nature, and the way she made others feel welcomed and cared for.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she especially treasured the moments shared with those closest to her. Gloria also loved traveling and expressing her creativity through many different crafts. In addition, she found great joy in lending a hand at the Hungry for Christ food bank in Hamilton, Michigan, where her willingness to serve reflected the compassion she carried throughout her life.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lynn (Beatrice) Fochtman, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James (Rosalie) Martin, and her sister-in-law, Sheryl Schaub. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Steve Martin; her daughters, Karen Martin and Stephanie (Jeff) Spencer; her granddaughter, Taelia Spencer, and her fiancé, Elijah Vandermel; her step-grandson, Tyler (Carissa) Spencer; her step-great-granddaughter, Emmy Spencer; her brothers, Edward (Sherill) Fochtman, and David (Betsy) Fochtman; her sister, Karen (John) Schouwink; her brother-in-law, Kevin (Kim) Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Ottawa Center Chapel, 8991 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the church.
Gloria will be remembered for the warmth she shared, the faith she lived, and the love she gave so freely to her family, her church, and her community. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
