Gerald A. Benkert, age 68, of Nunica, MI., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 29, 2022. He was born in Grand Haven, MI to the late Charles and Doris (Hendricks) Benkert and preceded in death by several loved ones. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Nunica, volunteer fireman for Crockery Twp. fire department. Was a 1972 graduate and football player for the Spring Lake Lakers, worked for Holtrop concrete products for many years. Gerald enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, scrapping metal, putting puzzles together, bowling, spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing various board and card games with friends and family. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Doug (Carolyn) Benkert, Lynnette (Jerry) Gavin, Barb (Dan) Syrek, Debra Benkert, Carl Benkert, Ed (Wayne) Benkert, Pat (Sandy) Benkert, Craig (Heather) Benkert; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A memorial open house will be held 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Crockery Twp. Hall, 17431 112th Ave, Nunica, MI 49448. Memorial donations may be made to the Crockery Twp. Fire Dept. 17431 112th Ave. Nunica, MI 49448 or the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office, 12220 Fillmore St. West Olive, MI 49460.
