Eloise Drooger

Eloise Maxine Drooger (Lieffers), 89, passed from this life at her home of 54 years on August 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jay. Born on September 25, 1924 to Henry Lieffers and Nellie DeMaagd, Eloise, who lived her entire life in Eastmanville, lost her mother at an early age and was lovingly raised by her motheré�a�a��s sister, é�a�A"Aunt Minnie.é�a�� Eloise loved cooking and baking for her family. She made the most delicious pies imaginable. She also loved collecting antiques and refinishing furniture, playing tennis, golf, and flower gardening. Caring for her own grandchildren as well as caring for other children and elderly neighbors and relatives was her greatest joy. She loved playing cards with her big sister, Viv. A hard-working and caring person all her life, Eloise grew up on her fatheré�a�a��s fruit and vegetable farm on the banks of the Grand River. She held factory positions during and after WWII and assisted with her husbandé�a�a��s small business later in life. She and Jay were married in Eastmanville on December 28, 1945, which is where they raised their five children. Eloise will be forever missed by her son, Jeffrey Drooger (Jennie) and her four daughters, Patricia Marzano, Pamela DeVries (Rodney), Jayne Drooger and Jonelle Rosin (Scott). She was the proud grandmother of twelve and the great-grandmother of 11. She will also be missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Joyce Lieffers, her brother, Lester Lieffers and her sister, Vivian Ford. She was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews, many of whom felt a special closeness to her. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Gideons or to Love, Inc. A Life Celebration Services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday Sept. 13, 2013 at Eastmanville United Reformed Church. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday Sept. 13, 2014 one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 P.M. at church.
