Eleanor Drooger

Eleanor Lillian Drooger (Birdsall), age 98, of Coopersville, passed away Monday August 7, 2017 with family at her side. She was born in Mason Co. MI. to the late Guy and Esther (Lundberg) Birdsall. Eleanor graduated from Ludington High School, earned her teaching certificate from County Normal School in Ludington and also attended Central Michigan University. She began teaching at age 19 in Ottawa County and taught at Big Springs and McDermon Schools. She worked for Coopersville Schools as a para-pro classroom assistant from 1970 until her retirement in 1981. Eleanor was a charter member of the Coopersville Old Kids Group and enjoyed singing in their Choir, was a member of the Coopersville Christian Reformed Church and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Drooger in 2001 and by her brother and sister-in-law Wilbur and Jackie Birdsall. Eleanor is survived by her children, Donald Drooger, Dale (Nancy) Drooger and Dawn (Bruce) VanderBerg; grandchildren, Diana (Mark) Johnson, David Drooger, Jonathon Phelps and Nicklaus (Jennifer) Phelps; great grandchildren, Mackenna and Ellie; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, Aug. 10th at the Coopersville Christian Reformed Church, 200 Henry St, Coopersville, 49404, with Rev. Lloyd Hemstreet and Rev. Cori Cypret officiating. Burial will be at the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 1 to 3 pm at the Church. Memorial donations may be made to Coopersville Christian Reformed Church, Coopersville United Methodist Church, Coopersville Old Kids, Fountain View-Coopersville or Kindred Hospice.
