Donald Spicer

d. February 6, 2015

Donald éaA"Donéa Spicer II, devoted husband & father, loving grandpa, dedicated son & big brother, and fun-loving uncle, sailed into eternity after a brief, but brave, second battle with cancer on Friday, Feb 6, 2015. Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jerri (Place) Spicer; his children, Mike & Sonia Barlow, April Bunker, Aimee Spicer, and Jeff & Mandy Barlow; his grandchildren Jacob, Alicia & Jesse Barlow, Kassie Bunker & Steven éaA"JRéa Guzman, Blake Rose, and Nicholas & Matthew Barlow, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings & their spouses, Dan & Robin Spicer, Cathy & Tim Jonio, Karen & Don Friskey, Mike & Mindy Spicer, and Jeanelle Zylstra; and Jerriéaas siblings, Bill & Vickie Place, Bonnie & Ron Shoemaker, Beverly Dime, Bob & Irma Place, Vicki Sinning, Karen Atkinson, and David & Karla Place; plus a host of nieces & nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald & Margaret Spicer, his brother, Dale Spicer, his mother-in-law, Lois Rounds, and brother-in-law Bob Dime. Don was retired from Consumeréaas Energy where he had a 32-year career as a certified master mechanic. He had a passion for the water & enjoyed his life on the Grand River where he made many memories on his boats, éaA"Spice of Life I & IIéa. He & Jerri made the Coast Guard Festival an annual tradition, and together they enjoyed time in Florida and cruising the Caribbean. Don also loved Corvettes, Camaros, casinos & the Detroit Tigers, but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife and family. Don was a kind and generous soul who considered everyone a friend. He had a knack for making others laugh & feel special, and his ability to smile through serious strife was an inspiration to us all. Knowing that he greets his loved ones with a renewed voice and rests without pain forever, we find peace. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 1:00 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, Fr. Anton Tran officiating with burial in Rosedale Memorial Park in Standale. Relatives and Friends may meet the family Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
