Delores Jean VanderLinde, aged 93, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in Standale, Michigan. Born on March 28, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late John and Jennie (Zylstra) Zeilstra, Delores was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life. A lifelong resident of Marne, Michigan, she was deeply rooted in her community and church, touching many lives with her kindness and warmth.
Delores was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church on 4 Mile Rd. in Grand Rapids and was known for her unwavering faith and friendly demeanor. Her commitment to her faith was also evident during her time at Marne United Methodist Church in Marne, where she was a former member. Delores's love for her community was matched only by her dedication to her family, who will remember her as the loving matriarch of the VanderLinde clan.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald VanderLinde, her daughter Donna Schwartz, and her brother Loren "Jack" Zeilstra. Delores's legacy lives on through her loving family, including her son, David (Judy) VanderLinde; son-in-law Larry (Annie) Schwartz; her adored grandchildren, David (Sarah) VanderLinde, Amanda (Shaun) Thrush, Jennifer (Doug) VanDerHeide, Amy (Curt) Visser, and Matthew (June)Schwartz; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Ashley (Collin) Sullivan, Tristan VanDerHeide, Brenden Visser, Dylan Visser, Kayleigh Visser, Case Visser, Abigail VanderLinde, Noah VanderLinde, Cameron Schwartz, Carter Schwartz, Jackson Thrush, and the youngest great-great-grandchildren, Reagan and Dawson. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
A proud graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1950, Delores's zest for life and learning was evident in all she did. Her career as an Activity Director for Glenwood Christian Nursing Home was a testament to her caring nature and her ability to bring joy to others.
Delores was the embodiment of a loving, friendly, and faith-filled individual. Her radiant smile and generous spirit were a source of comfort and happiness to everyone she encountered. Her life was a beautiful example of service, devotion, and love, and she will be remembered for her enduring positivity and the grace with which she lived her life.
Visitation will take place 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Trinity Congregational Church, 2725 4 Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Trinity Congregational Church following the visitation with Pastor Israel “Izzy” Young officiating. A Luncheon will follow after the service
Private family burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park, 50 Lake Michigan Dr, Walker, MI 49544.
