Diane Lessien

d. September 19, 2016

Diane Lessien passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 with her husband, Warren, by her side. It was two days after her 72nd birthday. Diane was born in Allegan to the late John and Thelma Katherler. She is survived by Warren, her husband of 48 years; son, Darren Lessien; daughter, Debra Hudson; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Pixley and brother, John Katherler. While Dianeéaas first name was Thelma, she rarely used that name and went by her middle name most of the time. Diane was an architect and worked for local Grand Rapids firms where she specialized in health care design. She retired from Beta Design as a senior architect with more than 40 years of experience in architecture. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan. She worked on many projects in West Michigan, the east side of the state as well as in the Upper Peninsula. In her retirement, she loved working in her extensive flower gardens on the Coopersville farm where she lived. She was very good at painting with water color being somewhat of her favorite. She was a collector of antique glassware, books and became a self-taught expert in marbles. She loved knitting, crocheting, her cats, and took up the old art of tatting. If she were able, she would thank all those who loved her so and tried their best to ease her journey to Heaven. Now that she is there, there is little doubt that among the people that preceded her, she will also be looking for her dog, Blue. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, October 15, 2016 at Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 or the American Cancer Society, Northwest MI Office, 129 Jefferson SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
