David Harold Holm

Oct 15, 1948 — Sep 12, 2026

David Harold Holm, age 77 of Lamont, went to be with his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus on Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2026. He was born on October 15, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan to Harold and Dorothy Holm.

In 1966, he graduated from Coopersville High School. After serving in the Marines, he went to work for Frost Incorporated with his father and continued working for Frost for almost 60 years until his passing. It was at Frost, where he mustered the courage to jump off the loading dock to ask Mary Brower out for a date. Together they built a life full of rich blessings as God worked out his plans in their lives for over 55 years together.

David was a devoted husband, a loving father, a grandfather who chatted with his children and grandkids every week, and a loyal and respected friend to many coworkers. He was a member of Lamont Christian Reformed Church where he attended with Mary their entire married life and served in several roles including Deacon & Elder. Mackinac Island was a very special place to him and Mary; He and Mary visited every year for over 30 years, which included family trips where they could share their love of the island with their children and grandchildren. There was no limit to the amount of fudge and souvenirs they would purchase for their family. David found his greatest joy in time spent with family. He was a man who loved traditional things. He was fiercely patriotic and loved God and his country. He valued hard work and was always helping his children with all kinds of projects. He loved working in his yard and garden with older John Deere tractors. He loved fresh produce from his garden, meat, potatoes, the sweet treats from Mary’s oven and the sweet corn Mary would put up every year. There was only one flavor of ice cream, plain vanilla, with nothing added to it except for a piece of cake after a birthday dinner that he made sure happened for every one of his children and grandchildren. He was a man who pursued simple things for himself, so that he could give the very best to the family he loved.

He is survived by his daughters Cynthia (Luke) Stroven, and Deborah (Brent) Dyke, grandchildren Logan (Julia) Stroven, Camryn Stroven, Graham Dyke, and Lillian Dyke.

He is also survived by his sister and brother, Cheryl Lewis, John (Bonnie) Holm; brother in-laws & sister in-laws Jerry (Jane) Brower, Roger (Nancy) Brower, Barbara (Cal) Van Klompenberg, Gene (Pat) Brower, Jim (Esther) Brower, Dale (Jennifer) Brower, Cal Brower, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Mary (Brower) Holm, his parents Harold & Dorothy (Ackerberg) Holm, brother in-law Kenneth Brower, father and mother-in-law Stanley and Genevieve (Scheur) Brower, brother-in-law Ken Lewis, and sister-in-law Heather Brower.

There will be a time of visitation with family on Thursday, September 17 from 5pm to 7pm, and Friday, September 18 from 10am to 11am at Lamont Christian Reformed Church, located at 4745 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18 at 11am, also at Lamont Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Terry Slachter officiating. A luncheon will follow.
