Connie Lorene Lown, age 87, of Coopersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born in Greenville, MI to the late Eldon and Mary (Morlock) Pfahler, raised in Traverse City before moving to Coopersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. John A. Lown and brother Roley Pfahler.
While raising four boys, she was a cub scout leader, and founding member of the Coopersville Athletic Boosters, and never missed a band concert, piano recital or athletic event; a dedication that continued with her grandchildren’s activities. She especially enjoyed her annual Christmas ornament party for the grandkids.
Connie cherished the years she spent living in Germany with her husband, John, where they traveled widely and created lasting memories. She also enjoyed spending many winters in Richmond Hill, Georgia, and treasured trips to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, especially camping at Brevort Lake. Entertaining family and friends was central to Connie’s life, she especially took great joy in family gathering together for the holidays and the annual Oktoberfest celebration. She was an enthusiastic fan of Michigan State basketball and the Green Bay Packers, loyalties she followed with passion and pride.
In her last years while at Covenant Living, she made many new friends and left a lasting impression on many of her caregivers.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Diane) Lown, Mike (Kiki) Lown, Bill Lown and Janelle Gunn, Jim (Annette) Lown; exchange student son, Nick Shibahata; grandchildren, Marissa Lown, Emily Lown, Samantha (Ben) Rigdon, Megan Lown, John Lown, Josh (Whitney) Lown, Jonathan Lown, Anna Lown, Matt (Rita) Lown, Ben Lown; great grandson, Arlo Lown; sister-in-law, Carol Pfahler and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, January 30, 2026 from 5:00-6:30 PM at Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St., Coopersville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Trinity Congregational Church, 2725 4 Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544.
Connie’s family will greet visitors at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Congregational Church. Condolences for the family may be left in Connie’s guestbook at www.throopfh.com.
