Christopher DeWayne Berg

Oct 4, 1961 — Jul 8, 2026

Christopher DeWayne Berg, known lovingly as Chris, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Coopersville, Michigan, at the age of 64.

Chris was born on October 4, 1961, and lived a life marked by love, faith, humor, and a deep devotion to the people and passions that mattered most to him. He was a loving, funny, and faith-filled man whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him. His famous words, “I’ll be fine,” reflected the steady spirit and quiet confidence that many came to know and admire in him.

Chris graduated from the University of Georgia, where he earned both a law degree and a culinary arts degree. He also played football for the University of Georgia, an experience that reflected his strength, discipline, and team spirit. His education and accomplishments were a source of pride, but those who knew him best will remember even more the kindness, wit, and sincerity he carried into everyday life.

He enjoyed many things in life, especially time spent with his fur babies, Bear, Dolly, and Dano, whom he loved dearly. Chris was a gifted storyteller and had a way of making people laugh, think, and feel at ease. He also enjoyed camping and found joy in the simple blessings of the outdoors and time shared with others. His faith was an important part of his life, and he served faithfully at church with the Go Serve outreach group at Gateway Church, where he shared his heart through service to others.

Chris is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kari Berg; his sons, Cameron Berg and Chaseten Berg; his father, Jerry Berg; his sister-in-law, Val (Jim) Gilson; his brother-in-law, Herb Jr. (Amber) Davis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Berg, and his brothers, Mark Berg Sr. and Jerry Berg II.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Chris will be remembered for the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the faith that guided his life. His family and friends will cherish his memory and the many ways he made their lives brighter.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at The Gateway Church, 700 Maple St. Spring Lake, MI 49456. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at church.

Condolences for the family may be left of Chris's guestbook at www.throopfh.com.
