Christina Leilani (Gross) Lloyd
Aug 21, 1970 --- Oct 29, 2026
Christina Leilani (Gross) Lloyd, age 56, of Coopersville, Michigan was called home on Wednesday, October 29, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born on August 21, 1970, in Kailua, Hawaii, to Michael Lem and Sue Ellen Gross. Christina’s childhood with her two siblings in Wyoming, Michigan involved activities like riding bikes in the summer, sledding in the winter, camping, hunting, fishing or just hanging out and it was always an adventure. In 1988, she graduated from Kelloggsville High School in Wyoming, Michigan. Upon high school graduation, she attended Grand Rapids Junior College where she met a man, Rodney Carl Lloyd. She and Rodney dated for the following two years, but Christina’s pursuit of higher education would continue at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), studying fine arts and subsequently graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. However, during Christina’s time at GVSU her education pursuit was not the only one occurring. Rodney had set his mind on earning Christina’s hand in marriage, so he had a custom engagement ring created and one evening of her first year at GVSU in her dorm room he proposed leading to a wedding ceremony in May 1993. During their first year of marriage the couple shared many firsts. In June 1994, Christina welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Morgan Amelia Lloyd. The couple also purchased their first house in Grand Rapids, Michigan and with their little bundle of joy, love and commitment for one another made it a home where friends and family were welcomed with open arms.
In May 2003, the family experienced a tragedy in the form of a motor vehicle accident which claimed the life of Christina’s father and left her mother handicapped. This event would forever change her, and her family’s lives as they knew it, but with all the love, compassion, strength and determination given to them by the Lord God they persevered. Christina and her family moved to Coopersville, Michigan to be closer to her mother. However, as time went on it became clear to Christina that her mother needed more care so in 2011 Christina with her husband purchased 10 acres in Wright Township. Longing to have her family close to her and under one roof Christina laid plans to build a home thus providing yet another sanctuary with a natural landscape that created an ecosystem that invited God’s creatures as she enjoyed a cup of coffee with her husband.
Christina has had many different careers throughout her life. She worked at Meijer as a cashier, she worked in the Credit Union business configuring and testing new software systems, but it was her passion for plants and gardening that led her to a career as head perennial expert at Countryside Greenhouse for over 20 years. Due to more life changes, Christina shifted careers by working at Pathway Senior Movers where she lovingly and carefully supported the elderly transition from their homes to assisted living facilities by downsizing their possessions and organizing their documents.
Christina’s faith in God and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ led her and her husband into the arms of their Church Family at Little Farms Chapel in Coopersville, Michigan. The comfort and peace that she experienced worshipping the Lord and rejoicing in His glory, reading her bible, and praying with her husband brought her so much joy. She was Christ filled and hungered for the Good News. As the cancer progressed leaving her unable to leave the house, she was thankful for the times that her Pastor tended to her spiritual needs bringing her close to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through scripture and prayer.
Christina brought warmth and joy everywhere she went. She was always a bright shining light that deeply affected everyone’s day. Christina did not meet strangers, but rather friends waiting to be made. The memories that she created shall live on forever in all those whom she has touched so deeply.
Christina Leilani was preceded in death by her father Micheal Lem Gross and mother Sue Ellen Gross.
She is survived by her loving and ever devoted husband Rodney Carl Lloyd of Coopersville, Michigan, daughter Morgan Amelia (Jake) Emelander of Coopersville, Michigan, brother James Patrick (Lisa) Gross of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Amy Sue (Scott) Porter of Covington, Tennessee; her grandchildren Mayven Amelia and Wesley Charles Emelander; nephews and niece, James Patrick (Felix) Gross, Parker Douglas (Nia) Gross, Gerrod Michael Gross, Emily Rachelle Porter, Dylan Scott Porter and great nephew Parker James (PJ) Gross
