Carol Ann (Horan) Tasker

Oct 14, 1937 — Jun 23, 2026

Carol Tasker was taken peacefully from all who loved her on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She was born October 14, 1937 to Robert and Agnes Horan of Big Rapids, MI. Carol attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Big Rapids High School during which time she worked several summers at the community swimming pool. She graduated from Ferris where she caught the eye of Don Tasker, the love of her life. They married on August 31, 1957. They made their home in Coopersville where Don operated Taskers Drug Store. Carol handled the store décor and established a gift shop with the pharmacy.

Carol had a wonderful sense of fashion and design. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing for herself and her family. She also created Baptismal garments for her church which she helped decorate for special occasions (or Liturgies).

Carol had an outer and inner beauty. She strived to make the world a better and lovelier place through her passion for flower gardening, her concern and prayers for the others and her community involvement which included the Pack It Up Lunch Program, the Coopersville Roundabout and other projects through the years. She was a supporter, volunteer and longtime member of the Coopersville Historical Museum.

She loved Lake Michigan and enjoyed sailing the water of Michigan and elsewhere with Don on their 42 foot trawler. They even accomplished the remarkable feat of sailing the Great Loop, a system of waterways that included the Mississippi, the Gulf, the Eastern Seaboard and the Great Lakes. They where members of the Grand Haven Yacht Club.

Carol is survived by her son Tom (Myra) Tasker; grandson, Tanner (Gaby) Tasker and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband Don Tasker; son, John Tasker; twin grandsons, Chase Tasker and Harrison Tasker; brother, Bob Horan; sisters, Patricia Horan, Mary Horan and Barb Dawson; nephews, Josh Horan, Tom Horan and Paul Horan.
