Carl Peter “Pete” Englert Jr., age 75, of Nunica, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. Pete was born to the late Carl Sr. and Lillian (Thomas) Englert and was a lifelong resident of Nunica. Pete worked as a surveyor and was an owner in Milanowski and Englert Engineering and Surveying located in Grand Haven. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, hunting, fishing and the trips he and Linda took for 20 yrs. to catch perch at Drummond Island. He excavated and stocked a pond with trout on his property and enjoyed taking the grandchildren out to catch fresh fish for supper. Pete was an avid reader and passed his love of reading on to his three daughters and also enjoyed western movies especially those with John Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Linda; 3 daughters, Sharon (Mike) Kleinjans, Michelle Pearce and Ava Sousley; 3 stepchildren, Todd (Kim) Merkins, Shari (Doug) Laug and Jeremy (Betsy) Merkins; 2 grandsons; 9 step grandchildren; sisters, Carole (Mike) Closs and Jackie Auten; many nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A Life Celebration Open House for relatives and friends to greet the family will be held Tuesday Nov. 28th from 4 to 7 pm at the Crockery Twp. Hall, 17431 112th Ave, Nunica, MI 49448. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. , 1550 East Beltline SE, Suite 250, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
