Betty Mae (VanderJagt) Poley

Betty Mae Poley, age 100, of Coopersville, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Edward and Marie (Visser) VanderJagt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Poley and her siblings.

Betty is survived by her children, Lynn Bergsma, Geri (Ken) Elzinga, Mickey (Jim) Wagner, Jon Poley, and Jeffrey (Anna) Poley; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Talbot; and many nieces and nephews. Her family was a source of great joy to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Betty was a loving, thoughtful, and creative woman whose life was centered around the people she cared for most. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends, and she held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness were evident in the way she cared for others and in the many ways she made those around her feel welcome and loved.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing the organ for many years. These gifts reflected her creativity and her appreciation for the simple, meaningful things in life. Betty also had a remarkable talent for home decorating and worked alongside her late husband and son to create a beautiful and welcoming home. Her eye for detail and her sense of style were admired by those who knew her, and she took great pride in making her surroundings a reflection of love and care.
