Betty Hodson

Betty L. Hodson (McCue), age 85, of Chippewa Lake formerly of Coopersville,  passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Betty was born in Muskegon, Michigan in 1932 to the late Raymond and Regina (Stepka) McCue, an Irish father and a Polish mother. Betty was raised on a small farm by Dennison west of Coopersville with her two sisters and brother. Betty worked at GM’s Fischer Body Plant on Alpine for 25 years in the sewing dept. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed canning tomatoes and pickles. Betty loved her family especially her 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who will fondly remember grandma for her beehive hairdo and her christmas cookies with frosting which they helped her make by the hundreds. Betty fought breast cancer  in 2004 and was a breast cancer survivor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hodson, brother and sister-in-law, Ray and June McCue, sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Skip Homoly and brother-in-law, Louis Buzas. Betty is survived by her children, Gregory Laug and Chris “Cricket” Gorkisch, Randy (Cynthia) Laug, Pamela Laug, Bryan (Sandy) Laug and Lesa (Robert) Rolfe, Peggy (Gary) Cobb and David (Jody) Barrett; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Dolores Buzas; sister-in-law, Ena Palmatier; brother-in-law, Bill Hodson and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov 17, 2018 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville with Rev Tim McGarvery officiating. Burial will take place in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
