Alvin Dale Terpstra, age 85, of Marne, Michigan, passed away on July 8, 2026. He was born on September 25, 1940, in Walker, Michigan, and lived a life marked by love, faith, and quiet wisdom.
Alvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was found in the people he loved and the simple, meaningful rhythms of life. He especially loved tractors, farming, and horses, and he appreciated the beauty of hard work and the satisfaction that came from a life spent close to the land. He also treasured time with family and friends, and those who knew him will remember his kind spirit, steady presence, and the warmth he brought into every gathering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Margaret (Jack) Glashower and Elsie (Harris) Broene, and his brother, Edwin Terpstra. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Terpstra, whose companionship and devotion were a central blessing in his life. He is also survived by his children, Valerie (Daniel) Mulder, and Gary (Robyn) Terpstra. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Corey Mulder, Hailey (Ryan) Schipper, Grace Mulder, Hannah Mulder, Cutter (Machaela) Bullen, Brody Bullen, and Destiny (Aaron) Harris, along with eight great-grandchildren who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dixie Terpstra, and many nieces and nephews who will remember him with love and gratitude.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for the care they gave to Alvin and also the staff at Rivertown Ridge Their kindness and support brought comfort during his final days and will always be deeply appreciated.
